Xylazine is a veterinary tranquilizer medicine used in animals for sedation
and pain relief for its muscle relaxant and analgesic properties. It is
currently not approved for human use. However, it has become
increasingly detected in the illicit drug supply, usually in combination with
fentanyl/heroin. According to our analytical and statistical data we found
that the presence of xylazine is highly correlated with the presence of
fentanyl.
Tianeptine is sold under brand names Stablon, Tatinol and Coaxil is an atypical tricyclic antidepressant. In United States, it is an unregulated drug adulterated with other recreational drugs. It is commonly known as ‘gas station heroin’.
Specimen Requirement:
URINE: Urine (random or spot Collection) with minimum volume 2mL and maximum volume around 30mL is required in a sterile specimen container. Room temperature is acceptable for short term storage and shipping (2-3 days). For long term storage refrigerated or frozen specimen is required.
ORAL SWAB: Oral Swab (Intercept or Quantisal) with minimum volume 1 mL is required. Room temperature is acceptable for short term storage and shipping. For long term storage refrigerated specimen is required.
Rejection of Specimen: Specimen with incorrect information such as wrong name or date of birth, no name on specimen or Test Requisition Form will be rejected.
